FM Summit 2019 - "a must-go event"

The Facilities Management Association of New Zealand (FMANZ) ran a very well-organised Annual Summit in Wellington last month – attended by Tom Clarke, David Long and Jose Litre from our Auckland office.

The conference certainly delivered in terms of conversation starters including an excellent case study on the remediation of asbestos issues at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.  This presentation highlighted the complexities and cost of tackling asbestos in older buildings.  The standout on the second day was a presentation by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and Inland Revenue on deciphering seismic assessments and New Building Standard (NBS) ratings – it generated a lot of discussions. Still a hot topic.

From our conversations, it’s clear that the upcoming generation of facilities managers are highly tech-savvy, unafraid to challenge the status quo, and are looking to raise the bar in terms of their approach to professional development.  The summit provided a practical platform to learn from both the presenters and from each other.  To quote one of our clients it’s a “must-go event” - that says it all.
