"Because it's time for change" - Housing Summit

The recent Housing Summit hosted by New Zealand Green Building Council was attended by many in the industry and the packed agenda included 33 speakers from Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

The theme of this year's Summit: ‘Because it’s time for change’ resonated throughout the day with speakers addressing the issue of damp, cold and unhealthy homes throughout New Zealand and how we can work together to raise the housing standard.  Economist, Shamubeel Eaqub from Sense Partners summed it up well with an explanation of the struggles we currently face including a decrease in the houses average life expectancy and higher running costs due to our short-sighted approach to building, he stressed the need to   build better homes by extending our vision.

The conference has inspired new question content surrounding Homestar ratings and efficiency within the home to include in the Property Quality Standards Library that is currently being created.
